Virginia Korte: Why I'm Running For Reelection To Scottsdale City Council
Together we can make our great city even better.
| I am running for re-election to the City Council because I respect our
city’s past and all those who helped make Scottsdale so great – and, most
importantly, I want to make sure we stay focused on our future. Truthfully, some people think they can turn back the clock to what our city once was while ignoring what it can be. Those people want to stop us from continuing to attract visitors who contribute to the city’s revenue and help keep our taxes down. They have also stopped us from investing in maintaining some of our most critical infrastructure, which ends up putting citizen services in jeopardy. I am grateful that voters approved two bond questions last November to build new fire stations and replace 140 miles of deteriorating pavement on our streets. However, when the other four bond questions were rejected, it left our city with about $67 million in unfunded priority projects. We have to work to prevent that from ever happening again. I want to continue moving our city forward in the right direction, so I would appreciate your help to keep our quality of life sustainable. This past week, after hearing that my friend and LD28 colleague, Senator Adam Driggs decided not to pursue a fourth term in the Arizona Senate, I announced my run for the Senate seat. I am fully committed to winning and continuing my service to this state and LD28. Thank you, Adam, for your endorsement, and thank you, supporters, for your many offers of assistance. I cannot do this without you! Here is how you can help:
1) Sign my
petition. There are two ways you can do this.
First is online, with the
Arizona Secretary of State. Log on to this website https://apps.azsos.gov/apps/election/eps/petition/VoterPetnAuth.aspx
and follow the instructions to sign the petition online. If you would prefer to
sign a paper petition, simply email me, kate@katemcgee.com with your name and address
and I will be in contact.
2) Gather petition
signatures.
Please help me even more by
asking your LD28 friends and neighbors to sign my petition online, or by
contacting me at kate@katemcgee.com and requesting paper
petitions.
The deadline for
nominating petitions is fast approaching so we need to move
quickly!
3) Donate to the
campaign. Log on to katemcgee.com and
click on the DONATE button. You can donate online, or if you prefer to send a
check, mailing information is also located on the page.
4) Help with the
campaign. Log on to katemcgee.com and
click on the GET INVOLVED button. There are many ways to help. Pick the ones

Secretary Reagan introduces
efficient online system for ballot measure arguments
PHOENIX - Michele Reagan, Arizona’s Secretary of State has
announced her office has opened the online filing period for pro/con arguments
related to Proposition 124. The ballot measure will appear as a part of the May
17th statewide special election and seeks to reform the pension system for police and
firefighters. Arguments should be filed
utilizing the online
system and must be received by February 23, 2016.
The argument must be 300 words
or less and must be written exactly how the filer wants it to appear in the
Secretary of State’s publicity pamphlet as it will be entered into the pamphlet
verbatim. Due to statutory requirements, each online argument must be
subsequently accompanied by an original, notarized version as well. The
notarized version may be mailed or dropped off in-person at the Secretary of
State’s office in Phoenix, and must be received by 5:00 p.m. on February 23,
2016. Interested parties should pay special attention to the restrictions noted
on the AZSOS.gov
website.
The argument must include the
name, address, city, and telephone number of the person or persons signing.
However, only the name of the signer will appear in the publicity pamphlet. Any
additional information, such as the title of the argument filer or the filer’s
city of residence, must appear within the 300 word text of the
argument.
Similar to the notarized
version of the argument filed with the Secretary’s office, the $100.00 fee must
be received by February 23, 2016. Payment may be submitted online through the
Secretary of State’s portal.
