Arizona Secretary of State Michele Reagan-Her First Ten Weeks in Office

Many of you have asked what we’ve been up to at the Secretary of State’s office since I was sworn in the first week of January.  Now that my administration is 10 weeks old, I thought you might be interested in some highlights of what we’ve done so far:

The First 10 Weeks

Attested for Governor Ducey's first executive order.

Helped draft a definition of “political committee” and found a great sponsor for the bill in Rep. Ugenti.
Our campaign finance laws hinge on this definition and it is essential we get HB2649 passed.

Named Western States Board Member of the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association.  Arizona now has a seat at the table!

Did you know the SOS office is responsible for trademarks?  My first trademarks were the Super Bowl logo, Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.

Gave the closing remarks at the Barry M. Goldwater statue installation at Statuary Hall in Washington, D.C.
Truly an honor to induct one of Arizona’s favorite sons!
Began accepting credit cards finally making it easier for businesses and consumers.

The new machines took in over $1000 on the first day.

Signed my first bill into law, the new Civics Bill - and was Acting Governor for a few days, too.

Formed partnership for an SOS mobile phone app that reminds voters of upcoming elections, shows polling locations and tracks specific races (the company developing the app is doing it for free).

Launched our new website.  Modern, sleeker and more user-friendly.  Check it out at www.azsos.gov.

The website is compatible with mobile devices too!

HB 2589 advances through Senate committees.  It provides political subdivisions the chance to do campaign finance reporting through the SOS office.  This was part of my campaign platform and enhances transparency in campaign finance.

What’s next?  Notary filings will go online, the mobile phone election app will be released, and watch for our soon to be introduced “Follow the Money” program online.

Stay tuned!

Sincerely,

Secretary of State Michele Reagan
