We have exciting news!

We have exciting news!

We just launched our first television ad of the general election, "Experienced Prosecutor, No Politics."

You will start seeing this ad on television beginning on Monday, but because I value your efforts, I wanted to be sure you got a sneak peek of the ad early.

Thank YOU.

It is because so many of you have donated to my campaign and worked so hard to spread the word about my candidacy that this ad is possible.

Within the past week, we have been able to fund this new television ad and we released a new radio ad! Your contributions are helping this campaign keep the momentum we’ve worked so hard to build.

However, my opponent still has a cash advantage and has recently begun to attack my character -- both in-person and shortly on the airwaves.

I have pledged to campaign on a positive message and what my priorities will be as Attorney General. I will not resort to the same tactics as my opponent. My opponent knows I am leading in the polls and she is desperate. But I need your help.

Can you donate today to help us keep this ad on the air? Simply put, the more we can raise, the longer we can keep our commercial running and spreading the truth.

I know I am the most qualified candidate running for Attorney General. I am the only candidate who has served as a local, state and federal prosecutor and my pledge to you is that I will return the Office of the Attorney General to its core mission: to do justice, no politics.

Click here to view my new TV ad and donate to keep it on the air!

With many thanks,

Mark

Do you really want more big government?

It’s interesting to note my opponent, who has been critical of every election bill I’ve introduced, has released a dark money elimination plan that has a strikingly similar foundation to the very legislation I introduced this year – SB1403.

Terry Goddard’s plan to expand disclosure of “major funders” and “doing business” in Arizona as a non-profit corporation were included in SB1403, which received unanimous support in the Senate Elections Committee that I chaired.  They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so I appreciate the acknowledgement from Terry.

Unfortunately, those are where the similarities end. Terry is just another liberal candidate trying to dupe the public by promising things he cannot deliver.  His “bright line trigger” mandates any ad “mentioning any person” appearing on the ballot, will be subject to disclosure and registration requirements.  The U.S. Supreme Court in Wisconsin's Right to Life ruled a blanket disclosure requirement for mentioning a candidate is unconstitutional.  He is simply wrong.

However, the most alarming provision is the “random” auditing of 10 – 20% of non-profit corporations participating in express advocacy by the Department of Revenue.  As Terry always believes, bigger government and higher taxes can fix anything.  Additional government bureaucracy is rarely the solution.

He claims mandatory government interference in the business dealings of non-profit corporations will help stop the flow of dark money.  And this is based on the far-fetched belief the Department of Revenue will remain completely non-partisan, despite which gubernatorial administration is overseeing it.  The IRS was thought to be the most impartial of all agencies until it was revealed they were targeting conservative groups seeking to attain non-profit status.  Terry wants to do the same in Arizona.

We cannot allow Terry to repeat the discriminatory practices of the IRS in Arizona.

Terry's plan attempts to consolidate power in the Secretary of State’s office so he can play judge, jury and executioner with every entity that becomes involved in Arizona elections.

Instead of seeking massive expansion of regulation and government overreach, I will focus on realistic laws for all corporate political spending.

Next week, I will release a comprehensive plan on how my administration will fix the challenges facing the Secretary of State’s office.  It will center on streamlining processes and making the office run more efficiently.  It will be substantive and address multiple issues that need reform, not just a politically expedient one.

Sincerely,

Michele

Former Governor Jane Hull Endorses Mark Brnovich for Arizona Attorney General

Mark Brnovich, candidate for Arizona Attorney General, received the endorsement of former Arizona Governor Jane Hull. Hull served as governor from 1997 to 2003 and was the first woman to be elected governor in Arizona history.
In her endorsement, Hull noted: “There is only one candidate with the experience, judgment and resolve we need to serve as Arizona's next Attorney General: Mark Brrnovich. As an accomplished criminal prosecutor, Mark Brnovich will put public safety first and be an attorney general for all Arizonans.  Join me in supporting Mark Brnovich for Attorney General.”
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Governor Hull,” said Mark Brnovich. “Governor Hull gave so much to Arizona as a public servant in a career spanning nearly three decades.” He continued, “As Attorney General, I will always defend the law regardless of my personal opinion or the political party of our next governor.”

ABOUT MARK BRNOVICH

Raised in Arizona, Mark Brnovich is a graduate of Arizona State University. After law school, Mark prosecuted felonies in the Gang/Repeat Offender Bureau of the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and worked as an Assistant Attorney General for Arizona and as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona. Bolick Criticizes Incumbent's Abysmal Legislative Track Record

Shawnna Bolick Criticizes Incumbent’s Abysmal Legislative Track Record  photo
Phoenix, AZ- September 26, 2014-  Declaring that “Legislative District 28 deserves effective representation in the State Capitol,” Republican House candidate Shawnna Bolick criticized incumbent Rep. Eric Meyer for his failure to have a single bill in which he was the principal prime sponsor signed into law despite being in office for six years.
“We need effective leadership,” Bolick urged.  “Zero bills passed in six years does not amount to effective leadership.”
“As a member of the majority party in the Legislature, I will work with my colleagues and across the aisle to get things done,” Bolick added.  Her three top priorities are education, economic growth, and sound fiscal policies.
“Rep. Meyer represents families of all public school aged children in LD 28 who attend both district and charter schools.  Yet, his voting history proves he opposes a high quality education by voting against allowing charter schools to expand (HB 2099) and he doesn’t believe in performance-based reforms that would allow our public school children to be taught by the best and brightest teachers (HB 2227).  More importantly, Meyer has done nothing to increase the portion of education spending that reaches the classroom, which is only 54 cents of every dollar, among the lowest in the nation.”
Bolick continued, “As your state representative, I promise to put our school aged children above politics and ensure more money is allocated to classroom instruction and not diverted along the way regardless of whether the school is labeled a district or a charter school. Finally, I believe in a high quality education.  I support teachers with mastery of their subject area.  Our future depends on kids receiving the best classroom instruction and I will fight to ensure every kid regardless of their socioeconomic status or zip code has access to the best teachers.”

Shawnna Bolick has a proven record of tangible accomplishments, most recently raising millions of dollars for scholarships for disabled, foster and low-income schoolchildren. Shawnna worked a bi-partisan coalition alongside Congressman Chuck Rangel (D-NY) while promoting high performing public schools in the Bronx.  Shawnna continues this mission in a non-partisan fashion when focusing on better educational opportunities for low income families across Arizona.
Shawnna Bolick has lived in Legislative District 28 for 13 years.  Shawnna and her husband, Clint, have two children, Ryne (12) and Kali (9), plus their six year old rescued greyhound, Beary Goldwater, living in the shadows of Squaw Peak.

Getting Around Scottsdale

Transportation is a priority for the future of our community.  We must improve our bus and trolley service.  As our citizens age, our senior population looks for alternatives to driving to help them maintain their independence. Increasingly, young professionals are looking to get out of their cars and find green, sustainable options to get around town.  Our inadequate transportation connections are jeopardizing our long-term livability and economic sustainability.

To address this issue, Council directed staff to complete a transportation study. This study will be ready next year and will be a starting point to begin a community conversation to find short and long term solutions.

I am committed to creating better transportation connections for today and for our future.
Sincerely,

Linda Milhaven
