AZ US Rep. David Schweikert Supports House Select Committee on Benghazi

Scottsdale Ariz., May 2, 2014—Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) released the following statement in response to House Speaker John Boehner’s announcement to create a select committee to investigate the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi:
“I strongly support Speaker Boehner’s announcement to create a select committee to investigate the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack,” said Schweikert. "For over two years, the White House has systematically lied and mislead Congress and the American people regarding the terrorist attack in Benghazi."
“The families of those who died in the attack deserve to know what happened to their loved ones and I hope this committee can uncover the reason our Administration felt the need to sweep this tragedy under a rug.”
Congressman Schweikert co-sponsored H.Res. 36 early last year. H.Res. 36 is  a resolution to select a committee specifically charged to investigate and report on the attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Congressman Schweikert was also one of the first to sign a discharge petition for Resolution 36.

Chairman Schweikert: Proposed Water Rule Has Serious Deficiencies

Home

Scottsdale, Ariz., May 2, 2014— Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ), Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Environment for the House Science, Space, and Technology committee, released a statement after joining House colleagues in a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy and Department of the Army Secretary John McHugh asking the proposed draft rule defining ‘waters of the United States' be withdrawn and returned for further analysis, revision.
“It is deeply troubling to know that this expansion in overreach by the EPA has been proposed without the independent analysis of the data and science behind the drafted rule,” said Chairman Schweikert. “Administrator McCarthy and Secretary McHugh need to address the legal, economic, and scientific deficiencies of the proposal before moving forward.”
"Although your agencies have maintained that the rule is narrow and clarifies Clean Water Act (CWA) jurisdiction, it in fact aggressively expands federal authority under the CWA while bypassing Congress and creating unnecessary ambiguity," the letter reads. "Moreover, the rule is based on incomplete scientific and economic analysis."
“Compounding both the ambiguity of the rule and the highly questionable economic analysis, the scientific report— which the agencies point to as the foundation of this rule—has been neither peer-reviewed nor finalized,” the letter continues. “The science should always come before a rulemaking, especially in this instance where the scientific and legal concepts are inextricably linked.”
Concerns with the proposed rule are based on charges of over regulation and underwhelming validation. The EPA and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (Army Corp) proposed rule clarifies protection under the Clean Water Act for streams and wetlands. The entire draft rule can be read here.
The letter to Administrator McCarthy and Secretary McHugh can be read here.

Chairman David Schweikert is the author of the Secret Science Reform Act and a strong advocate for transparent data, evidence, and scientific research. The Secret Science Reform Act, H.R. 4012, prohibits the EPA from proposing regulations based on science that is not transparent or reproducible.

They want to stop us. AZ US Rep David Schweikert

A lot of people ask me why I ran for Congress, why I am so passionate about telling the truth and fighting to undo Washington's damage.

The answer is very simple.

It is because I care about saving our country.

I believe that there are Americans, like you, who believe that our shared values and the Constitution are worth defending.

Without question, the presidency of Barack Obama has put our country in jeopardy.

Look at Obamacare.  No other law on the books is doing more harm to our economy.

Look at what the IRS and the EPA are doing.  Regulations created by bureaucrats who have no idea how they impact people's lives.

No matter how hard I work for solutions, they continue to turn up the partisan attack machine.  In fact, just this week the head of the EPA came after lawmakers like me, who dare question the bureaucracy's power.

I need your help, and I need it fast.

They are targeting us, and the only way to stop them is to win in November.

Whether we win or lose depends on you:

Join me in the fight to save our country.  We must take back our government from Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid!

2014 Legislative Session Wrap-Up-Michele Reagan Candidate For AZ Secretary of State

In the wee hours of the morning last week, the Arizona Legislature adjourned the 2014 Session. This Session had no lack of debate, but when it mattered, there was a great deal of cooperation to get things done for Arizona. All in all, I believe that our work helps to move our state forward and make it stronger in the process.

Some Legislative highlights for me include:
  • Almost $200 million NEW K-12 education funding
  • More than 200 NEW child protection service caseworkers added
  • $38.5 million in NEW funding for our state's Universities
  • $120 million over the next 3 years for highway repairs
  • Over $6 million to Community Colleges for STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math
  • Funding for the VA for mental health therapy
  • Passing a sex trafficking bill that Governor Brewer has already signed into law
With the 2014 Session behind us, we aren’t finished yet. We will be holding a Special Session, most likely by the end of May, where we will address our state’s new child welfare agency. This new agency is replacing the dysfunctional office of Child Protective Services. We will be working to establish ground rules, responsibilities, and funding for this new agency in order to never ignore or fail to investigate cases of children in abusive or neglected situations.

We accomplished much this Session, and I truly appreciate your support as I have served in the Arizona Legislature. Now, I begin a new chapter. I am running for Arizona Secretary of State and can still use that support you have given me over the past several years. I face a tough challenge in the Primary Election, but I am the ONLY candidate that brings to the table the right combination of a relevant private-sector business background AND the necessary legislative experience to fulfill the role of Secretary of State.
Thank you.

Michele

thank you once again! AZ Candidate For US Congress Andy Tobin

Thanks to your continued support last quarter, my campaign out fundraised all of our primary opponents… combined… again!

Tonight marks another crucial fundraising deadline. We need to raise another $2731.49 by 12am tonight to stay on track with our quarterly fundraising goals. It’s folks like you that will help us buy signs, radio ads, TV ads and mail to get the message out that Arizona is done being fooled by Pelosi and Kirkpatrick.

Please help us right now by donating $39, $49, $99, $299 or whatever you can afford to help us reach our goals!

Thanks!

AZ Senator John McCain:Will you help fix Washington?

We have an opportunity this year to change Washington.

You see, considering the fact that mid-term elections in a president's second term have historically been a time when the voters turn their ire on the political party that controls the White House, I am very optimistic about our opportunities to win this November.

Simply put, the 2014 elections offer us a great opportunity to win back a Republican Majority in the United States Senate.

And, winning the six seats we need for a Republican Majority in the U.S. Senate and protecting our U.S. House Majority are Country First PAC's top priorities this election cycle.

That's why I'm writing to you today. In order to support races across the United States we need to raise $25,000 this week.

If you agree that everything we believe in is on the line this election, then I hope you will show your support by making a much needed contribution of $25, $50, $75 or more.

Country First's impact in many elections starts with us getting involved in highly competitive races early in the election cycle. The clock is now ticking for us to do just that for 2014.

That is why I am asking you to help us with a generous contribution of $50 or more today. Please follow this link to make an immediate online contribution.

I'll be traveling across our country in the coming months to campaign with our Country First PAC endorsed candidates. But what they need most right now are the critical funds to strengthen their campaigns and get their message out.

You are our country's best hope for success. Please stay in this fight with me. Our country needs your help now more than ever. As always, I thank you for your unwavering patriotism and support.

Sincerely,

John McCain

P.S. Please help ensure that Country First can make a critical difference in key campaigns by sending a generous contribution of $50 or more to help us reach our goal of raising $25,000. Thank you.

We cannot afford to lose this year.  We must save this country and undo Washington's damage.
I'm counting on your help!

AG Tom Horne to Consumers: Be Aware of Fraudulent Grant Offers

Attorney General Tom Horne to Consumers: Be Aware of Fraudulent Grant Offers

PHOENIX, AZ (Thursday, May 1, 2014) -- Attorney General Tom Horne is warning Arizona consumers, particularly students, to be wary of telephone solicitors who offer to send thousands of dollars of grant money if the consumer pays a couple hundred dollars through a money card. Green Dot cards are a popular method through which scammers now conduct business as they are as good as cash and cannot be traced. These reloadable debit cards are available at numerous locations and can be used much like a debit card.
In this most recent scam, consumers are told that they will receive a grant worth thousands of dollars. They are instructed to load a lesser amount onto a Green Dot card. The scammer then either picks up from the consumer’s home or instructs them to read the number on the card over the phone. Once the scammer has the card number, they have access to the funds.  Unfortunately, consumers learn too late that they are not recipients of  grant monies.
The federal government, which administers grants through “Grants.gov” has set up a hotline for victims of this “Green Dot Scam.” Consumers who have lost money can call 1-800-447-8477 or emailsupport@grants.gov

BREAKING: Senator Jeff Flake Endorses Hugh Hallman for AZ State Treasurer

Follow Hugh's Campaign!

Senator Jeff Flake Joins Republican Leaders Endorsing Hugh Hallman for Arizona State Treasurer

U.S. Senator Jeff Flake has joined the ranks of the Republican leaders across Arizona who have endorsed Hugh Hallman to serve as the next Arizona State Treasurer.

Senator Flake, who has a long track record of service as a Republican in both the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, said Hallman’s experience as Mayor of Tempe and his commitment to fiscal responsibility show that he would represent Arizona residents well as State Treasurer.

“Arizona needs continued conservative leadership in the Treasurer’s office,” Senator Flake said. “Hugh Hallman has a track record of fiscal responsibility and a commitment to conservative principles that will serve Arizona well. I strongly urge Arizonans to support Hugh Hallman for State Treasurer.”

Senator Flake joins Republican leaders from throughout the state of Arizona in supporting Hallman — the campaign has announced more than 70 significant endorsements to date, ranging from conservative leaders to Senators to former Congressmen to municipal leaders.

Hallman said he was humbled by Senator Flake’s endorsement and strives to maintain the same kind of commitment to spending taxpayer dollars wisely that the Senator has shown on the federal level.

“Senator Flake has done an outstanding job in just a short amount of time in becoming a voice for conservative policies in the United States Senate,” Hallman said. “I am proud to have his support and pledge to bring the same approach to my service in the State Treasurer’s Office.”

Sal and I need your help

As you know the last campaign was a tough one for Sal and our family. Your help was critical for the victory, but more importantly for the future direction of Phoenix.

We hate to ask again, but with this election cycle we really need to bolster our defense against the future attacks that we hear are coming.

Last election we did not move fast enough and the government unions spent over $1 million in the race to try to stop the reforms Sal was getting through City Hall.  Reforms that are meant to protect the city and reforms that are designed to protect all of our families from the fiscal nightmare cities like Detroit are witnessing across our great country.

We cannot be caught off guard again.

The last election you gave a generous donation of $200.00. I am asking if you could match that again this time.

Additionally, the contribution limits have changed and any individual can now give $2,500 per person.

We wouldn’t be asking if we didn’t need your help.  To make an on-line contribution please follow the link to:

If you would rather send a check, please send it to our home address with the check made out to DiCiccio for City Council. With a check contribution we will also need:

A full name, address (city, state, and zip), occupation, and employer.
Thanks again and we continue to appreciate your support!

congratulations! Andy Tobin AZ Candidate For US Congress

The United States Chamber of Commerce has also taken notice of Arizona’s hard work and promise. Today the U.S. Chamber officially endorsed my campaign for Congress!

We have the momentum but we really need your financial help to get our message out! Please take a moment now to donate $7, $17, $57 or even $570 to our effort to return Arizona to

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Endorses AZ Candidate Andy Tobin for Congress

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Endorses Andy Tobin for Congress
World’s Largest Business Federation Pledges Support for Tobin

Citing Tobin’s extensive and proven track record of advocating for Arizona’s business and economic development opportunities, The United States Chamber of Commerce announced their endorsement today for Andy Tobin’s campaign for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District. The U.S. Chamber pledges the full support of Arizona’s business community as Tobin campaigns throughout the district.

“In today’s economy, it is critical that members of Congress provide strong support of free enterprise and leadership for policies that will return America to its full growth potential,” said U.S. Chamber National Political Director Rob Engstrom. "We're proud to stand with Andy Tobin and his candidacy for Congress in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District. Andy has a demonstrated record of promoting Arizona jobs, and in this race is the clear choice to lead on policies that will boost economic growth, create jobs and get our country back on track.”

“It is no surprise that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the nation’s leading voice for job creators, has endorsed Andy Tobin for Congress,” said U.S. Chamber of Commerce Public Affairs Committee Member Glenn Hamer. “Andy Tobin has been one of the most consequential Arizona legislators in a generation. Few can match his reputation for tax cuts, regulatory reform and tort reform, which have helped spur growth in our economy and made Arizona a much more competitive and attractive state for business. The U.S. Chamber’s endorsement is an acknowledgment of what we in Arizona have known for many years: Andy Tobin will fight tirelessly for jobs and a stronger economy.”

“The United States Chamber of Commerce is a key leader in our fight for economic development and job creation in Arizona,” said Tobin. “I am proud to say that we have made incredible strides to recover jobs, nurture a pro-business environment and attract international companies to Arizona in the past decade. But the work is not done. Having the support of Rob Engstrom, Glenn Hamer and the U.S. Chamber is a valuable resource in my fight to restore more Arizona jobs. When America’s businesses recover and thrive, our country as a whole will return to being an economic leader. I sincerely thank The United States Chamber of Commerce for endorsing my campaign. I look forward to taking proven Arizona solutions to Washington.”

Phoenix VA Health Care System

My constant battle to improve care and reduce wait times for our veterans took a new and unfortunate turn with the latest reports
of gross mismanagement and neglect in the Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS). These allegations are as outrageous as they are heartbreaking. According to reports, PVAHCS officials fraudulently misused the Electronic Waiting List (EWL) system employed by all VA Health Centers and kept a non-official list outside of standard VA procedures. It is unconscionable that officials at the Phoenix VA would allegedly allow a level of systemic failure that resulted in delays linked to the deaths of up to 40 veterans who were awaiting medical care, and would then tamper with documents to cover it up.

Senator Flake and I held a meeting with Sharon Helman, director of the Phoenix VA Health Care System, shortly after the allegations surfaced; she denied any knowledge of these claims based on their own investigation thus far. We need a thorough, complete and impartial investigation – one that can be brought directly to our veterans community in Arizona who can decide whether it’s credible or not. It’s obvious that PVAHCS has lost confidence with the veterans it was established to serve, and we must do everything in our power to restore it.
Last week, I sent a
letter to VA Secretary Eric Shinseki demanding answers to help get to the bottom of this mess. In addition, Senator Flake and I requested that the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs investigate and hold a hearing to examine this matter. The Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee Chairman responded, committing to hold a hearing on the issue following the completion of the VA Office of Inspector General's investigation.

this is a BIG race! AZ Candidate for US Congress Andy Tobin

I had no idea that DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz was running for Congress in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District. Did you?

Yesterday Wasserman Schultz sent the following email to Kirkpatrick supporters. This is even more proof that the Dem elites like Pelosi and now Wasserman Schultz are scared over Kirkpatrick losing her seat.

Perhaps it’s due to Kirkpatrick voting against paying life-saving Veterans benefits on time or her consistent votes for ObamaCare?

Andy will faithfully represent your voice in Washington. But he needs all of our help to ensure he has the resources to battle Wasserman Schultz, Pelosi and Kirkpatrick.

Thanks!
