Arizona's U.S. Rep. McSally, Sen. McCain Statement on A-10 Strikes Against ISIS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Martha McSally (R-AZ) and Senator John McCain (R-AZ) today released the following statement after reports that A-10 Thunderbolt II’s were used to destroy over 100 oil-tanker trucks in Syria as part of stepped-up strikes on ISIS targets.

“A-10s are again demonstrating their lethality and irreplaceable role in our military when our country needs it most. If the Administration had its way, we wouldn’t have these one-of-a-kind attack jets available to strike at ISIS targets and carry out the vital missions for which they are uniquely suited. Time and time again recently, we’ve seen the A-10’s number called up to protect us; whether it’s in Europe to deter Russian aggression, along the border with North Korea, or in the fight against ISIS. It just shows again, that when the world turns to us to defend against the dangerous and growing threats we face, we turn to the A-10. We’re proud that the National Defense Authorization Act once again keeps the A-10 flying for the next fiscal year, and we will continue to do everything we can to prevent the Air Force from prematurely retiring this vital aircraft.”

Rep. McSally spoke on the House floor yesterday about the A-10 strikes in Syria.

AZ Senator Jeff Flake Scoring Points for Fiscal Reform

Jeff Flake

Back in September, I was happy to report to you that the Department of Defense practice of spending millions of taxpayer dollars to the National Football League and other professional sports leagues for game day ceremonies honoring our military personnel would cease.
Honoring the troops have become part of the game day experience every football Sunday, and that's great.
But while our military will still take part in the festivities on Sundays, the Department of Defense -- the American taxpayer -- will no longer be footing the bill.
And now, I have even better news. Last week, I received a letter from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell which assured me that the league would reimburse the DoD for any inappropriate payments -- a big win for America's taxpayers!
Friend, this is exactly the kind of reform we can make happen by staying engaged in the fight to rein in Big Government spending and waste.
Sincerely,
Jeff Flake

GARY KIEHNE, CANDIDATE FOR CONGRESS IN AZ-01, NAMED TO THE NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE’S “ON THE RADAR” PROGRAM
***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***

Contact: Gaither Martin

November 18, 2015…Today, the National Republican Congressional Committee announced that Gary Kiehne was named an “On the Radar” candidate – the first tier of the “Young Guns” program that promotes the top GOP candidates for Congress across the country. Today’s rollout of “On the Radar” candidates was the first in the 2016 cycle by the national campaign committee that helps to elect Republicans to the House of Representatives.

Kiehne issued the following comments in response to this announcement:

“We have been grateful for the enthusiastic response to our campaign, and it’s an honor to be named to this national list of Republican candidates running in top congressional districts. It is critical that a candidate with a bold vision wins this seat in 2016, and I’m committed to working hard to earn victory in both the primary and general elections. As I’ve traveled the district, I've heard folks express over and over again their desire for fresh leadership from outside of Washington and from those who have real world experience. As an Arizonan who shares our district’s rural values, I have the experience and have demonstrated success as a small business owner and job creator who knows what is needed to get government working for Arizonans again.”

Born in Springerville, Apache County, Gary Kiehne is an Arizona cattleman and small business owner. He owns three hotels in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District and works in the oil and gas industry. Gary and his wife Julie have three children, Mendy, Holly and Chance, and four young grandchildren. A roper, Gary is a member of the United States Team Roping Association and the World Series of Team Roping. An avid outdoorsman, Gary is a lifelong member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and belongs to the National Rifle Association.

To keep up with Kiehne for Congress, please follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
