Happy Independence Day! Jeff Schwartz AZ State Senate Candidate LD 23

A special Thank You to all those who have fought for our nation's freedom, liberty and independence. Your sacrifice is what makes everything possible.

May your day be filled with family, joy and reflection.
~Jeff Schwartz

Happy 4th of July!

Independence Day means many things to Americans. Parades, hot dog eating contests, baseball, and barbecuing are all a part of this celebration. But most of all July 4th represents something uniquely American -- our freedom.

As we gather to celebrate this year, let us remember how important that freedom is and never take it for granted. From here in Arizona to our military bases around the globe, let freedom ring not only on July 4th, but every day throughout the world.

May you have a happy and festive 4th of July!

Celebrating Our Independence

Ken Bennett for Governor

For two hundred and thirty eight years, we've celebrated our nation's birthday on July 4th.  As Americans take time to enjoy Independence Day, we should also take a moment to recognize the momentous events of 1776.  They  changed the course not only of our history, but of human history.
In the document the Second Continental Congress sent to King George, the words alone were very powerful. "We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal."  That one line is significant due to its sheer boldness for that time in history.  The founding fathers proclaimed that if it is evident to us that men are created equally, then why isn't it to you?  To discuss that governments derive their powers from the consent of the governed, and that it is the right of the people to alter their own  government was unheard of.
Today, we hardly think that the idea that all men are created equal is radical or even revolutionary.  But for the founding fathers to proudly proclaim such a belief took guts, courage and insight.  Since then, the principles espoused in the Declaration of Independence have been used throughout the course of American history to win freedoms and civil rights for those originally left out.  Battles in the court room, at the ballot box, and on the battlefield have won freedoms and liberties for countless millions here and around the globe.
We have the world's oldest written constitution.  Nations around the world have shaped their own system of government with it as a guide.  Yet it is the simple, magnificent idea of equality and self-governance spelled out in the Declaration of Independence that makes our republic the most successful form of government in world history.
Winston Churchill said, "democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried," - and that old adage remains true.  Is our Government perfect?  Of course not.  But because of the principles and values that serve as its backbone, it is able to evolve, improve and reflect the sentiments of the time.
I hope everyone has a joyous celebration this year.  While we are celebrating our independence, imagine what our society would be like if it not for the determination of our founding fathers and commitment of those willing to fight for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Let Liberty's Bell Ring

This is my first official Newsletter and I am pleased that it be released on the birthday of our Nation... happy birthday America! As the campaign activities increase, I promise to keep you informed. Remember, the primary election date is Tuesday, August 26th, 2014 and now more than ever it is critical your voices be heard. You have two very different candidates to choose from and the outcome will determine the future direction of the Arizona Senate. I hope I can earn your vote and represent our community. Thank you and STAND STRONG!
LET LIBERTY'S BELL RING
Arizona is in the throes of many critical controversies; illegal immigration, runaway spending, and federal overreach.  Some State Legislators represent their own interests and have lost sight as to why they were elected. Arizona families are overburdened and underrepresented.  I "ring the bell" for safe communities, a balanced budget, and protection of states' rights.  I am interested in serving our community, not myself.  Let the light in.

"RING THE BELL THAT STILL CAN RING
FORGET THE PERFECT OFFERING
THERE IS A CRACK IN EVERYTHING
THAT'S HOW THE LIGHT GETS IN"

COMMUNITY VOICE

As I knock on neighbor's doors and meet people at various events, I hear the concern and frustration with the direction our country and our state is headed. Concerns specifically about:
  • Our open border and the safety of our communities
  • Overspending and continued debt accumulation
  • Federal encroachment in our schools, businesses and industry
  • Our lack of adherence to the Constitution
There is strong sentiment that our legislators have not listened to their constituents. That they have conducted business in the "middle of the night" without due process. I will listen and I will vote based upon the wishes of the community in the light of day.

THE TOM TRACKER

With the benefit of a large base of volunteers and supporters, we have been successful so far in raising funds and getting the word out. I am walking the neighborhoods, placing street signs, attending meetings and holding fundraising events. I have had the opportunity to listen to lots of folks. We even had a highly successful fundraiser held by my friends in Bullhead City!

Cops are like Nazis?

Yes, you read that subject line correctly, Gary Kiehne compared police officers who were risking their lives to safely evacuate citizens from the devastating Wallow Fire to Nazis.

How insulting can you be?

Kiehne just went on air with some ads to try to distract voters from his record
of outlandish, bizarre and insulting comments about our brave law enforcement
officials.

We need your help to fight back!

Kiehne’s insulting comments were so bad, Arizona’s Fraternal Order of Police said they were “Beyond the pale”, and the Arizona Police Association—which represents 14,000 law enforcement officers—called on Kiehne to resign from the campaign.

What was the Kiehne campaign’s response to the 7,500 member Fraternal Order of Police? No response.

In fact, he’s been in hiding for the past month since making these outrageous remarks—and for good reason. Now he’s trying to buy this race with TV ads that distract voters from his offensive comments—but Arizonans are smarter than that.

I’m as shocked as you that people who want to hold elected office would make such an insulting statement about the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to make sure we are safe.

One thing is clear: Gary Kiehne is unfit to serve in public office.

We need somebody like Andy Tobin, who is supported by numerous law enforcement officials like Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeau, retired Coconino Sheriff Joe RichardsGraham County Sheriff P.J. AllredMohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan and the Arizona Highway Patrol Association, just to name a few.

Arizona’s 1st Congressional District is not for sale-especially by someone who compares our brave law enforcement to Nazis.

Help Andy take his message of securing our border, cutting taxes, and creating good paying American jobs to Washington by contributing $10, $25 or $50 today.

With Andy Tobin you know you’re getting a battle-tested conservative who is ready to serve!

Obama and the Liberal Immigration Attorneys

Scott Smith for Governor 2014
Governor Jan Brewer is right.

Barack Obama's failed immigration policy threatens lives and our national security. Instead of granting blanket amnesty to thousands of people who entered our country illegally, the President should first secure our border.

On issue after issue, I am the only Republican candidate for Governor to stand with Governor Brewer. Last week, I called on the President and DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson to use the Expedited Removal Hearings process to speed up the removal of the more than 90,000 illegal immigrants who have crossed the American border since October.

I believe the Obama Administration needs to stop empowering the coyotes, cartels and organized crime syndicates who traffic in human beings. We can't allow criminals to continue to profit by luring tens of thousands more children and families by giving them false hope. These predators are victimizing would-be border crossers, and the Administration is aiding and abetting that crime. We need to send an unequivocal message not to leave your homeland.
If you cross into this country illegally, you will be removed just as quickly as you got here, no matter who you are. - Scott Smith

Because I stand with Governor Brewer and because I am opposed to the Obama Administration failed policies, I am now being attacked in the media by liberal immigration attorneys who support amnesty. That is why I am emailing you today.

Please click here now to make a donation of $500, $175, $85 or whatever you can afford to my campaign. I need your immediate help to respond and get our message out!

As Mayor of Mesa, we enforced the laws, apprehended illegal immigrants and made Mesa one of the safest big cities in America.

As Governor, I will do the same for Arizona. Please click here now to stand with me today!

Sincerely,

Scott Smith
Republican Candidate for Governor
Former Mayor of Mesa

AZ Heather Carter: Disparities in cancer treatment costs shouldn’t determine patient care...

Yesterday, at Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare, we celebrated Governor Brewer signing my cost-parity bill for oral anticancer drugs.  HB 2078 is one of the bills I was proudest to sponsor last session.

Beginning January 1, 2016, health insurance companies will not be allowed to charge cancer patients different amounts for oral treatment versus injections or those administered intravenously.  Now instead of being financially pressured into one type of treatment, patients can consult with their doctors and families and make healthcare decisions based on the patient’s individual circumstances.

With the passage and signing of HB2078, I’m very pleased that our elected officials did the right thing to stand up and represent all cancer patients.  By requiring insurance plans that already cover cancer treatments to treat all cancer drugs equally, it is now up to patients working with their doctors to decide what is the best available course of treatment for their condition. This also opens up a world of affordable options for rural cancer patients who don’t live near a treatment center.

HB 2078 will grant patients more access, more affordability, and most importantly, more choice in selecting their treatments.

Sincerely,

    Heather Carter

Arizona Correctional Peace Officers Association Endorses Randy Pullen for State Treasurer

Randy Pullen for Arizona Treasurer
Proven Track Record to Represent Arizona Correction Officers
(Phoenix, AZ)— Arizona’s Corrections Officers have made their voice heard on the candidate they are backing for Arizona State Treasurer and that is Randy Pullen.  The Arizona Correctional Peach Officers Association (AZCPOA) released their endorsement today with a statement describing why Pullen is the best choice for Treasurer.
"Randy Pullen is the battle-tested conservative that Arizona desperately needs right now. The AZCPOA has thousands of members statewide who understand that we need a conservative fighter and friend of public safety representing us as Arizona's next State Treasurer. This is why the Arizona Correctional Peace Officers Association fully endorses Randy Pullen for State Treasurer. We are united behind Randy."
The AZCPOA endorsement is the latest addition joining many others with distinguished careers protecting public safety.  This list is led by Governor Jan Brewer, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and many others. For a complete list of endorsements go to www.randypullen.com.
About Randy Pullen

One Step Closer to Eliminating Obamacare

Salmon for Congress
This morning, the Supreme Court brought us one step closer to eliminating Obamacare and all of its unconstitutional mandates.

In the case of Burwell vs. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., the Justices ruled that employers cannot force the Obamacare contraception mandate on its employees.

Indeed, this is a major blow to President Obama and his quest to impose his liberal agenda on all Americans.

But far more importantly, this is a major victory for religious freedom and free speech for all Americans.

Unfortunately, not all of Obamacare was ruled unconstitutional today. Congress must continue the fight to repeal and replace it.

That's where your help comes in.

Since being sworn into Congress, I have fought tooth and nail to eliminate every bit of Obamacare before it causes more disruptions to your healthcare and more damage to our economy.

But I need your help so I can continue to lead this fight in Congress.

My campaign is less than $3,000 away from meeting its goal before tonight's end-of-the-quarter deadline – will you help me reach it by making a donation of $10 right now?

Thank you in advance for your financial support, and allowing me to fight for your values in Congress.

Sincerely,

Matt Salmon signature

PS – If everyone who reads this email contributes $10, I will surpass my goal for this quarter and put my campaign in strong position for re-election. Please donate before midnight by clicking here, and let's continue to fight until all of Obamcare is repealed!
