Former U.S. Senator Jon Kyl Supports Mark Brnovich for Arizona Attorney General

Today, Republican candidate for Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced that former Arizona U.S. Senator Jon Kyl is supporting his candidacy in the August Republican primary.

Kyl remarked: “Mark Brnovich is principled, intelligent, and hardworking. He is a talented lawyer and accomplished prosecutor. He understands that the principles of limited government, free enterprise, individual liberty, and the rule of law are the cornerstones of our Republic. I firmly support his candidacy.”

Jon Kyl is a former Arizona U.S. Senator and the former Senate Minority Whip. Time magazine recognized Kyl as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, and he was ranked as the fourth-most conservative U.S. Senator by National Journal in 2007.

“It would be unfortunate if this office fell into the hands of an Obama ally because we failed to nominate a candidate who can win,” said Kyl.

Kyl concluded: “Elections have consequences and we need to ensure the best possible ones for Arizona.”

Mark Brnovich added: “Jon Kyl has been a great conservative leader for Arizona and our country for more than two decades. His support means so much to me and it is a reflection of the growing and broad support from Republicans and Independents our campaign continues to receive. The momentum has tipped in our favor.”

Senator Kyl joins other conservative Arizona leaders including Congressman Trent Franks, Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery, Len Munsil, Representatives Paul Boyer, Debbie Lesko, T.J. Shope and Brenda Barton, Chandler Councilman Jeff Weninger, Coolidge Mayor Tom Shope, former State Treasurer Dean Martin, former Senators Linda Gray, Barbara Leff and Frank Antenori, and more than 25 Republican grassroots and elected party officials in endorsing Mark Brnovich for Attorney General.

Many are beginning to recognize that Tom Horne can’t win the general election. As Senator Kyl said: “It would be unfortunate if this office fell into the hands of an Obama ally because we failed to nominate a candidate who can win.”
