Virginia Korte: A Time For Reflecting on Our Freedom and Good Fortune

On this holiday, as most of the world is in turmoil and discontent, I will be contemplating the significance of our freedom.  I hope that between all of the events and activities in which you are participating, you will also have time for reflection.

When I think about how much our country has accomplished since its inception only 240 years ago, the thing that comes most to mind is our country’s grit.  It was sheer grit fueled by conviction, vision and hope -- and driven by our forefathers’ quest for freedom that made America what it is today.

Those qualities are not just the ones on which our country was founded, they still reverberate across the land. These principles also continue to resonate with us here in our great city of Scottsdale.

I believe my campaign for City Council is about creating a vision and being a voice for our city’s future.  But to be successful in that endeavor, it is important that we honor our heritage and respect those who sacrificed and toiled to help make our city so special.

This holiday is important to all of us, no matter what our political affiliations and philosophies.  It is a time for celebrating our freedom, enjoying family and friends and reflecting on our good fortune of living in the greatest country in the world and the best city in America.
Happy July 4th!

PS:  Please keep your family, friends and pets safe.
