Arizona Republican (5) Party Chairmen Endorse Hugh Hallman for State Treasurer

Five Former State GOP Chairmen Endorse
Hugh Hallman For Arizona State Treasurer

Five Former Arizona Republican Party Chairmen have endorsed Hugh Hallman for State Treasurer, saying Hallman’s experience is best suited to lead our state financially, and keep us strong now and for the future of our families.

The five former GOP chairman — Congressman Matt Salmon, Ambassador Bob Fannin, Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal (Retired) Tom Morrissey, Mike Minnaugh and Mike Hellon — have joined the chorus of more than 80 Republican leaders statewide who have endorsed Hallman’s candidacy.

“Hugh’s long service to the Republican Party dates back to the first campaign he worked on when he turned 18; it was for Ronald Reagan’s election,” Fannin said. “He is just the kind of conservative we need in a role as important as the State Treasurer’s Office, where fiscal responsibility is key.”

“Getting our state's financial house in order must be a top priority for all members of our state’s executive branch,” Congressman Salmon said. “Hugh Hallman understands this crucial issue based on his years of experience in the private sector and his long service as Tempe’s fiscally conservative Mayor.  Hugh cut Tempe’s budget while improving services.  We can trust Hugh Hallman to serve us well as Arizona’s next State Treasurer.”

“Hugh Hallman’s credentials as a committed Republican and a conservative cannot be questioned,” Hellon said. “He has been a consistent advocate for conservative principles and limited government over several decades, which is exactly what we need in our state government.”

Minnaugh said that Hallman’s broad base of support from Republican leaders is a sign of how strong a candidate he is and how he will represent Arizonans as State Treasurer.

“We need strong conservative viewpoints in statewide office to represent the principles and priorities of Arizona residents,” Minnaugh said. “Hugh Hallman is just the kind of public servant we need serving as a steward of taxpayer resources. He is worthy of our support and I ask all Republicans to vote for Hugh in the primary and then elect him Arizona State Treasurer.”

Morrissey said that his experience in working with Hallman during his time as State GOP chairman makes Hallman a clear choice.

"My experience as GOP Chairman brought me to the realization that only a qualified person in office can protect an agency, or an organization from severe shortfalls. My own experience tells me that Hugh Hallman is the right person to be our State Treasurer.  His history of fiscally prudent leadership of the City of Tempe as its Mayor for eight years stands in stark contrast of the public performance of others seeking this important office."

Hallman praised the five former State GOP Chairmen for their service, and thanked them for their support. He also said that the people of Arizona can’t afford to take risks when choosing who will manage taxpayer dollars and state assets.

"The office of State Treasurer is critically important to Arizona residents, and requires prudent, responsible management of taxpayer dollars — just the type of management we succeeded in providing during my time as Mayor of Tempe,” Hallman said.
