Scott Smith for Governor 2014
Mayor Scott Smith for Arizona's Gubernatorial Republican Primary Election filed nearly twice the required number of signatures needed to qualify, turning in more than 10,500 signatures come from all 15 counties at the secretary of state's office.
PHOENIX — Mayor Scott Smith filed his petition signatures today to officially become a candidate in the Arizona Gubernatorial Republican Primary Election. Over 10,000 signatures were filed, collected in only five months since the Mayor declared his candidacy.
"I am thankful for the Arizonans who believe in my positive vision of a better Arizona," said Mayor Smith. "By leading and making tough choices, I turned a floundering homebuilder into an Arizona success story, employing more than 350 people and helping countless families realize the American Dream. I took that same CEO's focus on results to the City of Mesa, where we balanced our budget, slimmed our workforce and made city government work for our residents."
Said Smith: "As I've traveled throughout our state and listened to voters, it's become clear that Arizona needs leadership focused on high-wage careers, an outstanding education system that demands high standards for our children and lean, efficient government. I've done it before in Mesa and I know we can do it for Arizona."
