Fellow
Republicans:
Those of us elected to lead the Tempe and south Scottsdale
Republican Party in the past decade know the kind of candidate who reflects our
communities, our needs, and our values. In an unprecedented move, all of us who
served as chairmen of the Republican Party in the past decade urge you to vote
for the candidate who can best regain Congressional District 9 for us in
November – That candidate is Andrew Walter.
We have an
opportunity with Andrew to draw a clear-cut contrast with his
issue-waffling primary opponent from Michigan, Wendy Rogers. He is from our
community – born in south Scottsdale and went to ASU. Andrew led the Sun Devil
football team for 3 years and later played quarterback in the NFL. His
leadership on the field marked him among the greatest players in ASU’s fabled
football history. Additionally, Andrew earned his bachelor and
master degrees from ASU. After leaving the NFL, he worked for Mid-First Bank in
Phoenix and then started his own investment firm. Andrew has
also chosen to make south Scottsdale his home. This is what we mean about
someone embedded in our communities.
What drew us to
Andrew is his committed, conservative stance on key
issues:
• Illegal immigration - Andrew supports
Congressman Matt Salmon’s plan on illegal immigration: first securing the
border, if necessary with boots on the ground, and then deal with the complex
issues of illegals in our country. Under-aged children in this country need
repatriation with their parents back home in Central America.
• Social Security - Andrew steadfastly is committed to
preserving Social Security. Wendy Rogers already has said the program is
“unconstitutional” and wants to “phase it out.” Despite her recent and
opportunistic change of heart on Social Security, Rogers’ flip-flop here renders
her as “damaged goods” as a serious general election candidate.
• Repealing Obamacare – Andrew supports repeal of the
Obamacare legislation. In place, he supports the purchase of health insurance
across state lines that would allow for mobility, where workers can change jobs
and take their policy with them, avoiding job-lock. He also support tax reform
that expands tax-free contributions to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), which can
be used for any medically related expense.
Elections are about winning
and Wendy Rogers has already lost multiple races. Rather than discuss issues,
she has waged a negative campaign based on falsehoods and outright lies.
Against the Democrat incumbent, we need a new, fresh face that can hold
Republican voters and attract the plurality majority group in CD 9 –
independents, many of whom are under age 39. Andrew can
accomplish this task. He led the Sun Devils to victory on the field and with
Andrew at the top of the ticket we can strengthen our entire
slate against the Democrats. We urge you to join us in voting for
Andrew Walter in the Aug. 26 primary.
