Make Sure You Get Your Early Ballot!Bob Littlefield For Arizona State Representative,

Last Friday I turned in 1,484 petition signatures (more than twice the 676 required) to the Arizona Secretary of State to get my name on the Republican ballot for State Representative from District 23! That was a big milestone in the campaign.

Today marks another big milestone in the campaign, because it is the first day that voters can request an early ballot. Most voters in our district vote by early ballot and most are on the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL) and are used to automatically getting their ballot in the mail without having to ask for it. But if you are registered as an independent or Party Not Determined (PND) you will NOT automatically get a ballot for the August 26th primary election even if you are on the PEVL – unlike Republicans and Democrats, independents must take action in order to receive an early ballot for the primary election.

Today, county elections officials will mail out postcards to those on the permanent early-voting list. To get an early ballot, independents must return the postcard, indicating they want a Republican Party ballot. Or beginning today, they can call the Maricopa County elections office at 602-506-1511to request that ballot.Another quirk of our early voting system is that the Post Office will NOT automatically forward mail-in early ballots. So, if you are planning to be out of town during the summer you need to call that same Maricopa County elections office number (602-506-1511) to request that your ballot be forwarded to your summer address!
